The Challenge
Applied Materials wanted a steady stream of employer-brand social content built from real employee experiences. Our content strategy partners worked with employees selected by the client to gather interviews, photography, and footage.
The work began as individual assignments, but a brand still needs to feel like itself on social. We needed a recognizable framework that could organize different stories without making every post feel like a one-off.
Giving the Line More Range
When the client shared Great Careers Happen Here, language already used in its employer materials, we saw more potential in building from it than starting over with a new campaign. We recommended using the line as the creative framework for the social work.
The line could do more than it was being asked to do. We changed the central word to match the story. Great Innovations Happen Here spoke to technological impact. Great Collaborations Happen Here shifted the focus to culture. Each message could become more specific without losing recognition.
Leading a Senior Creative Team
As creative lead, I guided the ideas, reviewed the work at each stage, and led most client presentations. Each person owned their discipline, while I kept the work aligned from brief through delivery.
Shaping Employee Stories for Social
With the raw material in hand, we looked for the story worth telling. For video, the Copywriter and I selected the strongest interview moments and built each narrative for short-form social, generally around one minute. I stayed involved through storyboards and editing to protect the employee’s voice.

Over three years, the client renewed the engagement twice and trusted us with broader assignments and a larger budget. What began as social-only work expanded into a career-fair experience and animated recruitment advertising.
The career-fair booth connected individual growth to the wider impact of semiconductor technology. Animated banners carried the campaign into short digital placements where the message had only seconds to land.
